Trip to Monterey

On Saturday we made a day trip up to Monterey. It is one of our last trips before I have the baby. We first went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Isaiah loved looking at all of the exhibits. He ran from one to another exclaiming, "oooooo.....whats that?" I was surprised by all of the learning-play areas they had for kids. We had a lot of fun, and Santiago enjoyed taking a million pictures of the jellyfish.

After the aquarium, we walked around Cannery Row, but there wasn't much to do. We headed to the Denise the Menice Playground. It is a famous playground that the author of Denise the Menice paid for. It has lots of play areas and a real train that kids can climb all over.

As soon as we left the playground Isaiah fell asleep. We had planned on taking the 17 mile drive through Pebble Beach, and having Isaiah play on the beach. Since he was asleep, it ended up being a nice drive for us looking at the beautiful houses, cars, and scenery. We stopped once to get out. The weather was so beautiful in Monterey. Santiago complained that he should've worn shorts...but it was in the high 60's the whole time.

We took the Carmel exit off the drive and ended up right on Ocean Ave in Carmel. My sister coincidentally was in Carmel with her family for a car show. We rested for a while in downtown Carmel with them watching all of the super expenisve cars drive by. Finally we decided to head back, but not before stopping by the Gilroy Outlets. It was a failed attempt at shopping with a restless toddler. We had dinner and headed back home. We were in bed by 9:30, and woke up this morning at 7. I'm glad we were able to do something fun for Isaiah before the baby is here. Our next trip will be up to Sacramento for Austin's blessing...and then it's wait around time!
