I wouldn't say that Isaiah is fully potty trained, but he is almost there. The doctor said that for boys, its best to wait until they show you they are ready. I had tried on two different days to potty train, but gave up. I figured I would just wait till he was older. And then the day before we headed to Sacramento we were changing his diaper, when he got up and said he needed to go pee-pee, and ran straight into the bathroom. (Its funny how some things make parents so proud). When we were staying at my brother's house, Isaiah saw his cousin wearing underwear and going potty. I think it inspired him. When we got back I was sure he was ready. The next day I had him naked. He did go pooh on the floor...but after I told him that was a no-no, he got the picture. The next day I went and bought him underwear. I don't think there is a point in pull-ups...waste of money. So for the next few days he had accidents here and there, but for the most part he told us everytime he had to go...both pee-pee and pooh-pooh. He is now in underwear all day at home, even at nap time. When he is wearing a diaper, he still tells us when he needs to go, and will wait till he's on the potty. Going pooh takes a few trips, but its been almost a week since has gone in his underwear. When he does go pooh in the potty he gets excited and likes to tell us if its big or small. Then he gets three gummy bears as a treat. The only thing that has been a struggle is bedtime. He says he needs to go a ton of times. Sometimes he goes and sometimes he doesn't. I don't want to deter him using the potty, so we take him almost everytime. I wish we could tell if he really needs to go or is just prolonging going to sleep. But other than that, I think potty training has been successful.
I've gone out with him twice in underwear. The first time was a quick trip and he went pee before we left...and I asked him once while we were gone, which he said he didn't have to go. Then today we went to storytime at the library. I sat him on the potty before we left and he said he didn't have to go. As soon as we pulled up I asked him again and he said he needed to. So we headed to the bathroom and he went. I don't know when I will have the full courage to take him out for longer trips...but we are getting there. I'm so proud of him...and I'm glad this is all happening before the baby!

I'm so excited for you guys that he's catching on. It's crazy how far Brady has come in just three weeks since we started. I'm sure Isaiah will be the same way. I still put B in diapers for naps, so good for Isaiah for staying dry there. Keep it up and he'll be good to go when Xavier comes. Wohoo!
