We kept intouch for awhile after that, but unfortunately over time the phone calls stopped. A few years later I got married. One of my biggest regrets was not having her as a bridesmaid. She was able to come to my reception where I wish I would've had more time to catch up. It wasn't until I opened up our wedding gifts that I saw she had given me our journal. I made a mental note that I would have to update my part in it and mail it back, but life happens and the journal got tucked away.
After she graduated Berkeley she got accepted into the Grad School Pharmacy program at the University of Michigan. While she was studying hard I'm sure, I was having babies and living a totally different life. Fortunately through MySpace and Facebook we could reconnect somewhat.
A few weekends ago she had a graduation party for finishing grad school. After six years, there was no way I could pass up seeing her. That also mean't that I would finally have to catch up in our journal so that I could return it to her. I tried as best I could to summarize the past six years. I of course went back and read some of our passages from back in the day, and they are so funny. If only I was 13 again...yeah right!
Seeing her and her family was great...and it made me realize how much I have missed her. She looked so beautiful, all grown up! I wish we could've stayed at her party longer, but we had the kids and they had been at the waterpark all day for Santiago's picnic. I am so proud of all that she has accomplished. She has her first job as a Pharmacy resident in southern cali, so I hope that means sometime in the future we can have a real best friends reunion. Love you Gio!
