Backyard Update!

I am so happy to say that we now have grass! Sod was laid down on Friday, and it's going to be a long two weeks before we can play on it. I almost cried tears of joy when the landscaper was finished. Our backyard has been just weeds and dirt for almost a year. On Tuesday they started putting in the sprinkler lines and hauled all of the extra dirt away that has been along the fence line. On Wednesday and Thursday they rota tilled and leveled out the dirt. And Friday morning at 4 am the sod was dropped off, all 1325 sq ft. of it. We went to the zoo for Isaiah's field trip, and came back to it all put in. It is so crazy to think back of how it all looked when we first moved in. So happy we are almost done!

Before:
After: Our orange tree might come back, so we are holding out hope for now. We plan on planting more fruit trees along the fence, so we made sure to have drip lines put in for that. In the Northeast corner will be where the play set will go. We will probably put tire chips down and create a border around it.
Before:
After: I'm still not sure what we are going to do with the far west side of the yard. I hate wasted space, so we need to think of something!
Before: (This picture was taken after a lot had already been taken out)

After: Santiago is in the process of building a new fence. He still needs to finish clearing out all of the rose bushes and random trees. We are planning on putting some raised garden beds over here. I am excited about the kids helping me (more likely Santiago) plant a garden.
Before:
After: It would've been nice to lay down concrete to the end of the house, but that wouldn't work with the sprinkler line. We are going to lay down pavers, and plan on eventually getting a fire pit to go there.
We are anxious to host get-togethers outside, BBQ and relax while kids run crazy (Mainly ours). I am so excited to play with the kids; to be able to sit Sam on a blanket on the grass and do things with them outside, and to not have them get AS filthy! I am also so grateful for Santiago for working so hard with the yard. He has done so much work on it in between what we could hire out. I mean...look at those before pictures!

It looks beautiful. Grass makes all the difference, for sure. I'm jealous of all the space you have back there. You would laugh at our backyard. Thank goodness we have the playground next door.
