Isaiah woke up tonight. It's my typical Netflix movie night while Santiago is at volleyball. I heard a slight whimper in the dark and saw him standing near me. I picked him up (which is not an easy thing to do) and sat with him trying to figure out what was wrong. He wouldn't say anything, but fell asleep as I cradled my big 5 1/2 year old. It has been a long time since I have held him while he slept. Looking down on him, it's crazy how big he is now. I mean, I can barely carry him. I'm sure by next year it will be nearly impossible. I love on my kids all day, but I need to get in more sessions with him while I can.
He lost his first tooth on Monday. I pulled it out. That dang thing has been calling my name ever since I felt it wiggle in October. Who knew it would take that long? When he came home from school that day it was still in there pretty good. While he was eating a pb&j he came to me saying it hurt. I looked inside and it was barely hanging on. I got some tissue, reached in, and pulled that sucker out. He whimpered a bit, but handled it better than I thought he would. Seeing your first born loose his first tooth is such a strange thing...almost an ending to their cute, innocent stage. Well, they stay cute until their huge teeth start coming in. Better take family pics before that happens! Santiago wasn't very happy that I pulled it out, but common...it had been loose since October!!! Now his other tooth is super loose, I may or may not have wiggled it and held back from pulling it tonight while I held him. I blame my dad...
I am so proud of him. He is doing so good in school. I have observed while helping in his class that he gets distracted with everyone and doesn't focus on his work. So since I am a helicopter mom, I have threatened him with no Netflix if he doesn't complete his classwork. This has worked like a charm, and he has done it first thing ever since. He is receiving first grade homework now, and is doing so good at reading. I might push him a little too hard sometimes, but he really does have a special gift. He is still crazy as ever... Love that kid!
I am so behind in my blogging...picture overload will happen soon!
