Halloween

I was a lame mom the month of October. Sure we made homemade candy apples one night, but that was pretty much it.  No pumpkin carving, no cute little decorations around the house.  I just had no energy for it.  Besides, all my focus went into making Samantha's costume.  I saw a cute scarecrow on Pinterest of course, and knew she had to be it.  Unfortunately it was more cute than comfortable, and she hated wearing it.  Big props to Santiago who made the hat out of felt, and helped me cut all of that tulle.

When Xavier said he wanted to wear his pirate costume I had no objections.
Love saving time and money.

Santiago wants me to stop asking them what they want to be and just take them to the store to pick out something.  Last year it was the dragons, and this year Isaiah wanted to be a beetle.  I tried showing him other costumes, but he was set on it.  With a dad like Santiago though, he can make it happen.  Isaiah really wanted to be a black beetle, but we convinced him he needed some color so that he wouldn't look like a fly.  His costume was simple but cute.

We attended a trunk-or-treat at our church, and the kids loved playing the games and getting candy.  Samantha refused to carry around her hat and scarecrow, but she was still cute.

Cute enough to win cutest costume.

Santiago decided to paint his face, and somehow I decided to let him do it to me as well.  I was told that night by someone that it just wasn't me, and that I should've dressed up as a fairy or something.  Compliment? Still not sure...

We got a new minivan back in August.  Never thought I would see the day, but it's really not embarrassing to drive.  It was the most practical thing with having four kids.  Even though it was a hard sell on Santiago, he likes it.

Ready to pass out candy:
The kids got so much candy that night, and of course still wanted to go trick-or-treating the next week. We have been on candy overload, and I'm not sure if it's a good thing that they don't realize how much candy we steal from them everyday.  While I'm doing my part to fight against childhood obesity, my personal weight gain has been increasing!  And we are just barely getting into the holiday season...things are not looking good.
