Xavier at 4

Let me tell you about this crazy but lovable kid of ours.

Xavier is my little lover boy.  He can be the sweetest and gentlest kid.  Everyday he gives me compliments about what I am wearing, or that I look so beautiful.  He tells me I'm his princess, and that he loves me so much.  He is also very affectionate.  Every morning he crawls into bed with me and hugs me.  I believe it was while watching Spiderman (the cartoon) that he learned the "make-out" position and tries it on me all the time.  I tell him he needs to save that for when he is married.  (In one particular episode Spiderman kissed two girls, and that is from the old cartoons!)  He also tells me he loves certain girls.  I tell Santiago that he is going to be too smooth when he is a teenager, and the girls are going to love him.  Santiago just thinks he gets it from him!

Xavier has incredible control over his body.  That is probably because he is so little and has a more muscular build.  He can literally run and do a complete flip, does a perfect cartwheel, and is trying to perfect his handstand.  He loves the monkey bars and learned how to ride a bike at 3 1/2.

Of course what comes with being agile is the feeling like you can do anything.  Homemade ramp=crazy dad!

We knew Xavier would be the first one to have to go the ER, it was just a matter of time.  A few weeks ago we were at Isaiah's soccer practice.  Xavier and Sam were playing on the playground equipment, and I was chatting it up with a parent.  I heard Xavier crying as he ran towards me.  I totally panicked as there was so much blood coming out of his forehead.  Thankfully Santiago was near by and he ran over when we saw him crying.  He applied pressure to his forehead with his hand while I ran as fast as my pregnant self could across the school to the bathroom for paper towels.  We had walked there, so another parent drove me home so I could grab our car.  By the time I came back he was literally covered in blood.  Santiago and I took off with him to Children's Hospital, while a friend took Sam and Isaiah with them to their house.  It was so scary not knowing how bad his injury was. But he handled the whole thing so great.  Santiago held him in the back seat, and had him singing songs to keep him distracted.  Thankfully all he needed was to have his laceration glued back together.  I'm hoping something like this won't happen again...but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

So he is a crazy boy, and so goofy!  He makes silly faces at everyone, and loves to do a little dance to make people laugh.  He is so outgoing, and will chat it up with random adults...like telling them I have a baby in my tummy and that will make me have four kids!  He has no idea he is younger than Isaiah's friends, he fits right in with them.

Of course he has his moments.  He is always bothering Isaiah, and then cries when he gets the backlash from it.  He will just run up to Isaiah and do a kung-fu kick on him.  Or he jumps on him and tries to take him down.  His tantrums have really improved over this last year, but he still gets so upset when he can't do something.  I constantly tell him to relax and try it again.  He has been really scared of zombies lately, and I honestly have no idea where he learned about them.  Geez, I promise I monitor what they watch :/ . He won't go anywhere in the house really unless he is with someone.  At night time we do lots of reassuring that there are no zombies, and that daddy would kill them if there were.  I try not to make light of it, because I was terrified of the gremlins when I was little.

He is so sneaky sneaky!  Unfortunately his favorite hiding spot is under my side of the bed.  I have found chewed up gum, half eaten bananas, my jewelry; the list goes on and on. I should really check it more often.  His preschool teacher told me that when they were having his birthday cupcakes he told her that I said he could have two because it was his birthday. Of course I said no such thing.  I hope this isn't a pattern that's going to become worse!

For his birthday he requested pirate cupcakes to take to his class.  I found a really yummy recipe for pumpkin spice browned butter frosting, and it was perfect for the sand.  "X" marks the spot, and "X" for Xavier.

I also made his birthday cake with the same frosting.  He really wanted there to be an ocean on his cake, so I tried to do a treasure island feeling.

We celebrated at grandma and grandpa's, mainly so that we could watch the Byu game.

After cake and presents the kids watched a movie on Aunt Jenn's projector while we finished up the game.
