Easter Weekend

We spent Easter weekend with Santiago's family. On Saturday our niece Vanessa had a birthday party with an egg hunt. Since our kids were alot younger then the other party guests, they had alot of help finding eggs from their older cousins.

The next morning the kids awoke and saw that the Easter Bunny had come.

We got dressed and headed over to Veronica's house for a yummy breakfast. Santiago's dad is a Bishop, we all decided to attend his ward for sacrament meeting. Afterwards I tried to get Easter pics of the boys, but Isaiah was just being a goofball.

We headed back to Veronica's house for lunch. A few weeks prior to Easter, Santiago had asked his mom if she could make fanesca. Fanesca is a traditional Ecuadorian dish for Easter.
It's a soup made of grains, legumes, and fish. Thankfully it was prepared with the fish on the side. It was my first time having it, and it was good.

After we ate the fanesca, Santiago's mom made quimbolitos. They are similar to little cakes and are cooked in a steamer. You make this kind of cake batter with a few raisins in it, put it in a banana leaf, wrap it up like a tamale, and steam it until it's done.

It was a nice weekend, and the whole family needed it!
