Woe is Me #2

Saturday morning I woke up and started getting ready to leave for a service project with the young women in the ward. When I saw my hands I was confused to say the least. Both of them were dark red on the top. They were very sore and hurt when I put anything on them, including water. The only thing that I thought could possibly be the cause was dry skin, but my hands hadn't been dry fo several days. On Sunday they were hot to touch and I felt like my hands were burned more than anything. I went through everything I ate and possibly touched on Friday, but nothing stood out to me as different or new.

Morning morning I woke up in hopes that it was starting to heal, but instead I saw little bumps, which are now turned into bigger blisters.
I have to take a shower wearing latex gloves, and I have pain even getting dressed or picking up Xavier. I happened to have an appt with my OB yesterday, and he thought it was an allergic reaction. He told me to use Cortisone cream for a few days, and if that didn't work then he would refer me to a dermatologist. The blisters appear to be getting bigger, but I can see brown specks spreading underneath the red. I hope that means it is healing, but now I have the fear of my hands being scarred. My OB said that at anytime our body can become allergic to something we use everyday. I'm sure my pregnacy has something to do with it. Although I have been able to get out of doing the dishes and cooking dinner, the simple tasks with the kids throughout the day has been hard. My hands are constantly getting bumped and pulled on. And washing my hands is something that I dread but obviously has to be done.

For some good news, my foot feels back to normal. It took about three weeks before I didn't feel any pain after walking. We are doing our morning walks again, and that has been great!

What's next?

There's always something. Right now my lower back hurts from sitting hunched over. But seriously, I hope your hands get better really soon. That has to be horrible.

My dad had something like this last year on his feet. It took a while to go away...I'm sure you don't want to hear but took that whole layer of skin off when it finally went away. Upside, no scars after. Sorry you are in pain.
