Last Wednesday right after Isaiah's preschool graduation we headed off for our family vacation in San Diego. I was dreading the long drive but thankfully Sam and Xavier fell asleep as soon as we took off, and both woke up right before the Grapevine. The timing was perfect. We stopped to eat and found a little grass area so the kids could get out of the car for awhile. We came into LA about 3:30 and there was no traffic. Unfortunately Isaiah had to go pee so we got off the freeway in search of a public restroom. About 15 min. later we found a park in an interesting area to say the least. By the time we got back on the freeway we hit rush hour traffic. Around 5:30 we were barely reaching Anaheim and needing to pull off for another pit stop. We stopped in Carlsbad at Costco for dinner around 7, and reached our hotel in Encinitas about 8. Sam only really cried while we were headed to the hotel after dinner. She took long naps and the boys entertained her all the way up. We all were in bed by 9:30 that night.
The next morning we went to the Moonlight State Beach, which was only a few minutes from our hotel. Sam was sleeping when we got there, so Santiago took the boys down to play in the sand. It was windy and a little cold, but the boys didn't mind. Samantha finally woke up about an hour later so we headed down to meet the boys. She did good chilling on the blanket for awhile.
The beach had a cool play area for kids on the sand, and the boys enjoyed playing there as well.
My parents met up with us for lunch, and then my sister's family arrived towards mid-afternoon. My dad is such a trooper with the boys, playing with them in the water. My mom held Sam while she took another long nap.
Even though we put sunscreen spray on we all got burnt...even Samantha's little cheeks. I am not a big fan of sunscreen spray, and not surprisingly that night on the news they recommended using sunscreen lotion instead. Towards the end of the afternoon we were feeling the burn so we packed up our things, stopped by Target for some Aloe Vera and took the kids to the hotel for showers. We then all met up again at Soup Plantation for dinner. We went to bed at 8:30 that night, all so exhausted!

I had no idea you'd already eaten at Costco the night before! Why didn't you say anything? Is the Costco food court really that good? :)
