December

The holiday season is such a busy time!  We kicked off December with a pizza party for Isaiah's soccer team. Santiago passed out the trophies to his players, and it was cute to see them give him thank you cards for being such a great coach.   He did so good with them, and I can't wait to see him coach again this year.

Xavier graduated from the nursery at church.  His nursery leaders put on a cute program for the parents and hand out diplomas.  Each kid had four lines to say that they had been practicing for months.  Xavier had his memorized early on, but of course refused to perform under such pressure.

Santiago and I enjoyed a night out for his company work party.  It was so nice to not have to worry about having a newborn at home this time!  We enjoyed the yummy appetizers and dinner buffet.  The only downside was that he wasn't eligible for any of the prizes because he is in management now.  Oh well!

Samantha looked so cute in her overly puffy Christmas dress.  I like a little poof, but I didn't quite realize how puffy it was until that Sunday morning!

Ready for church.

Isaiah really enjoys learning about science and exploration, so it was no surprise that he wanted a telescope and binoculars for Christmas. I was happy to not have to buy more toys!  Xavier said that he wanted a million different things.  A few nights before Christmas, Isaiah was upset saying that all of his friends had a Wii and Mario Kart. We told him that we would let him have that when he was older and had earned it.  Well, he didn't let up about it.  I do not like video games.  I've seen too many cases in which boys/men get too addicted.  This was one of my biggest concerns.  There really is no need for a five year old to be playing, but we just couldn't bear the thought of seeing him disappointed Christmas morning. So, even though we had already bought all of their presents, Santiago went out and bought them a Wii just before Christmas.  We really need to let them deal with disappointment sometime in their life, or they'll be expecting a car when they turn 16!

The boys woke up early Christmas morning and went straight to see what Santa had brought them.  Isaiah was happy to see a new telescope.  Xavier on the other hand started crying when he saw that Santa had not brought him the new train set that he wanted (go figure!) Isaiah being the caring boy that he is, started crying as well.  When Xavier finally saw that he had gotten a pirate telescope he was happy.

Sam got a kitchen that Santiago decided to build back in November when it arrived.  So Santa brought her a shopping cart full off groceries.

When the boys opened their Wii they were so excited, and we knew it was worth it.  Of course there were rules that came with it.  Isaiah can not play on it unless he has read me a story.  Also he only gets to play for 30 min.  I was worried about him wanting to play too much, but he only remembers about it a few days out of the week.

It must be so random for a toddler to wake up to tons of new toys everywhere.
We invited the missionaries over for lunch and enjoyed having them for a little bit.  Then my parents came and we tested out a dancing game.  We then headed up to my sister's house for Christmas dinner, where she also fed the missionaries in her ward.

The next day my brother flew into California and came down with Joel and his family.  We did the big family Christmas then.  We also enjoyed spending time with my grandparents.  We had a nice dinner, and then the kids acted out the nativity while Grandpa read it.

Sammy looked like a ninja-shepherd.

The kids were eager to open up gifts after that.  It was pure chaos as they all ripped open their gifts at the same time.  My sister and I were excited to give my parents this:

It has all of the grandkids pictures in birth order.  Should've thought about room for the ones still to come! (not from me...don't get an ideas!)

Four generations:

We finished off the week heading to San Jose to celebrate Grandpa Gustavito's birthday.

It's strange, as much as I anticipate the holidays, I can't wait for them to be over!
